Today, the mindset and practices associated with improving the agricultural value chain are more focused on the growth and profits of the company. The involvement of small-scale producers is considered only in a purely transactional state, thus shifting the role of women who are not visibly involved in the supply value chain.
The findings were finally revealed in the Gender Transformative and Responsible Agribusiness Investments in Southeast Asia (GRAISEA) research activity led by Oxfam supported by the Swedish Embassy in Bangkok, the Institute for Social Entrepreneurship in Asian (ISEA), and collaboration with Bina Swadaya.
The research activity was entitled “Identifying the Impact of the Covid-19 Pandemic and Good Practices for the Company’s Level of Compliance with the Transformational Partnership and Women Economic Empowerment in Agricultural Value Chain (BTP WEE in AVC) Benchmark”.
In the world of empowerment, investing in women producers in technical training, input access, land ownership, and infrastructure have provided opportunities for these companies to become better because they are considered to increase the supply and productivity of companies.
The policy is considered to promote gender equality as a reminder of the inequities of land access, inputs, and services faced by women producers in various parts of the world.
Meanwhile, seen from the positive side, women turned out to be able to contribute great opportunities in the development of agricultural supply chains.
Bina Swadaya Konsultan who is trusted as a researcher in the field researches small-scale producers both men and women in the supplier group of PT. Trubus Mitra Swadaya or commonly known as Toko Trubus.
Based on this research, the suppliers turned out to be able to bring enlightenment to Toko Trubus to carry out good practices on the transformation of partnerships and women’s economic empowerment at the supplier level as well as in the company (Toko Trubus) itself.
In addition, the results of these research activities also provide interest. From the results of the research achieved, Toko Trubus is increasingly motivated to build a more mature strategic plan to increase company commitment.
